of Paradise, let him look at this one.’
‘I heard it from the Messenger of Allah (1) ﷺ.’
The same wording was also transmitted by ʿAbd Allah ibn Numayr from Rabiʿ al-Juʿfi.
Ahmad included it in his Musnad.
Shahr narrated from Umm Salama:
‘The Prophet ﷺ wrapped ʿAli, Fatimah, and their two sons in a cloak and then said, “O Allah, these are the household of my daughter and my close kin (2). O Allah, remove defilement from them and purify them completely.”
I asked, “Messenger of Allah, am I among them?”
He replied, “You are upon goodness (3).”’
Its chain is sound.
The report is related through several routes from Shahr, and in some of them he says, ‘I entered upon her to offer condolences for al-Husayn.’
Al-Aʿmash narrated something similar from Jaʿfar ibn ʿAbd al-Rahman, from Hakim ibn Saʿd, from Umm Salama, and Shaddad Abu ʿAmmar transmitted the story of the Cloak from Wathilah ibn al-Asqaʿ as well.
Ahmad reported: ʿAffan told us, Wahib told us, ʿAbd Allah ibn ʿUthman ibn Khuthaym told us, from Saʿid ibn Rashid, from Yaʿla al-ʿAmiri, that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, ‘Husayn is a grandson among grandsons; whoever loves me, let him love Husayn.’
In another wording: ‘Allah loves whoever loves Husayn’ (4).
