from him.
This was narrated by Bishr ibn al-Mufaḍḍal, from Muḥammad known as Ṣāḥib al-Sāj, from Abū Bukayr. Ibn Sīrīn said:
“Abū Hurayrah once blew his nose while wearing a linen robe. He then exclaimed, ‘Splendid, splendid! Abū Hurayrah blowing his nose into linen! I still remember when I would collapse between the Messenger of Allah’s pulpit and ʿĀʾishah’s chamber, and a passer-by would assume I was mad.’ (1)
Shuʿbah reported, on the authority of Muḥammad ibn Ziyād: ‘I saw Abū Hurayrah wearing a cloak of khazz (fine brocade).’ (2)
Abū Hurayrah said, ‘I was raised an orphan, and I emigrated as a destitute man.’ (3)
Qays ibn al-Rabīʿ related, from Abū Ḥuṣayn, from Khabbāb ibn ʿUrwah: ‘I saw Abū Hurayrah wearing a black turban.’ (4)
In Sunan al-Nasāʾī it is recorded that Abū Hurayrah prayed for himself, ‘O Allah, I ask You for knowledge that will never be forgotten,’ and the Prophet ﷺ responded, ‘Āmīn.’ (5)
Al-Dānī said: Abū Hurayrah presented the Qur’an to Ubayy ibn Kaʿb, and al-Aʿraj recited it to him.
Sulaymān ibn Muslim ibn Jammāz (6) said: ‘I heard Abū Jaʿfar describing to us the recitation…’
