(1) In the printed edition the word was misread as “jawsh,” with a dotted sh. The editor mistook the small neglect-sign (ʿalāmat al-ihmal) that scribes place above the letter s as a flattened nail-shaped mark for the three dots written over sh, and therefore printed “jawsh.” (2) Another opinion reads the word as “mukhashin,” with two dotted consonants and the first syllable pronounced with ḍamma (u-vowel).

(١) تصحف في المطبوع إلى جوش بالشين المعجمة، فقد التبست على المحقق علامة الاهمال المثبتة فوق السين هكذا كقلامة الظفر مضجعة على قفاها، فظنها النقط الثلاث التي تثبت فوق الشين، فكتبها " جوش ". (٢) وقيل: مخاشن، بمعجمتين وضم أوله.
