from the wooden bowl until they were fully quenched. The Prophet ﷺ then said, “O sons of ʿAbd al-Muṭṭalib, by Allah, I know of no youth among the Arabs who has come to his people with anything better than what I have brought you. I have brought you the good of this world and of the Hereafter.”
Aḥmad ibn ʿAbd al-Jabbār al-ʿAṭāridī said: It has reached me that Ibn Isḥāq only heard this report from ʿAbd al-Ghaffār ibn al-Qāsim Abū Maryam, from al-Minhāl ibn ʿAmr, from ʿAbd Allāh ibn al-Ḥārith.

Al-Aʿmash narrated, on the authority of ʿAmr ibn Murrah, from Saʿīd ibn Jubayr, from Ibn ʿAbbās, who said: When the verse, “And warn your nearest kindred” (Qur’an 26:214), along with “and your chosen clan among them,” was revealed, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ went out until he climbed al-Ṣafā and cried out, “Ya ṣabāḥāh!” People asked, “Who is calling out?” They were told, “Muḥammad.” They gathered around him and he said, “Tell me: if I informed you that cavalry were emerging from the foot of this mountain, would you believe me?” They replied, “We have never known you to lie.” He said, “Then I am a warner to you before a severe punishment.” Abu Lahab responded, “May you perish!
