Siyar Aʿlām al-NubalāʾShams al‑Din al‑Dhahabi

His father, Nawfal, was a paternal cousin of Āminah bint Wahb ibn ʿAbd Manāf al-Zuhrīyyah, the mother of the Prophet ﷺ; for that reason the Prophet honored him, welcomed him cheerfully, and clothed him in a costly cloak. His own son, al-Miswar ibn Makhramah, was one of the younger Companions and counted among the nobles and scholars of Quraysh.

114 – Abū al-Ghādiya, Companion
He was from Muzaynah, though others say from Juhaynah. He was one of the eminent Arabs and among the cavalrymen of Syria. It is said that he witnessed al-Hudaybiyah. Several fully–chained hadiths are reported from him, and Imam Aḥmad recorded them in the Musnad (1).

Those who narrated from him include his son Saʿd, Kulthūm ibn Jabr, Ḥayyān ibn Ḥujr, Khālid ibn Maʿdān, and al-Qāsim Abū ʿAbd al-Raḥmān. Al-Bukhārī and others said that he enjoyed Companionship.

Ḥammād ibn Salamah narrated—from Kulthūm ibn Jabr—from Abū Ghādiya—who said:
“I heard ʿAmmār cursing ʿUthmān, so I threatened to kill him. On the day of Ṣiffīn I saw him charging the people, so I struck him and killed him.
When ʿAmr ibn al-ʿĀṣ was informed of this he said, ‘I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: The killer of ʿAmmār and the one who robs him will be in the Fire (2).’”

وَكَانَ وَالِدُهُ نَوْفَلٌ ابْنَ عَمِّ آمِنَةَ بِنْتِ وَهْبِ بنِ عَبْدِ مَنَافٍ الزُّهْرِيَّةِ؛ وَالِدَةِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَلِهَذَا أَكْرَمَهُ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ وَبَشَّ بِهِ، وَخَلَعَ عَلَيْهِ حُلَّةً مُثَمَّنَةً. وَكَانَ وَلِدُهُ المِسْوَرُ بنُ مَخْرَمَةَ مِنْ صِغَارِ الصَّحَابَةِ، وَمِنْ أَشْرَافِ قُرَيْشٍ وَعُلَمَائِهِم. ١١٤ - أَبُو الغَادِيَةِ الصَّحَابِيُّ * مِنْ مُزِيْنَةَ. وَقِيْلَ: مِنْ جُهَيْنَةَ. مِنْ وُجُوْهِ العَرَبِ، وَفُرْسَانِ أَهْلِ الشَّامِ. يُقَالُ: شَهِدَ الحُدَيْبِيَةَ. وَلَهُ أَحَادِيْثُ مُسْنَدَةٌ. وَرَوَى لَهُ: الإِمَامُ أَحْمَدُ فِي (المُسْنَدِ (١)) . حَدَّثَ عَنْهُ: ابْنُهُ؛ سَعْدٌ، وَكُلْثُوْمُ بنُ جَبْرٍ، وَحَيَّانُ بنُ حُجْرٍ، وَخَالِدُ بنُ مَعْدَانَ، وَالقَاسِمُ أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ. قَالَ البُخَارِيُّ، وَغَيْرُهُ: لَهُ صُحْبَةٌ. رَوَى: حَمَّادُ بنُ سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ كُلْثُوْمِ بنِ جَبْرٍ، عَنْ أَبِي غَادِيَةَ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ عَمَّاراً يَشْتُمُ عُثْمَانَ، فَتَوَعَّدْتُهُ بِالقَتْلِ، فَرَأَيْتُهُ يَوْمَ صِفِّيْنَ يَحْمِلُ عَلَى النَّاسِ، فَطَعَنْتُهُ، فَقَتَلْتُهُ. وَأُخْبِرَ عَمْرُو بنُ العَاصِ، فَقَالَ: سَمِعتُ رَسُوْلَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُوْلُ: (قَاتِلُ عَمَّارٍ وَسَالِبُهُ فِي النَّارِ (٢)) . إِسْنَادُهُ فِيْهِ انْقِطَاعٌ.
