Ibn Abī al-Dunyā relates: ʿAmr ibn Bukayr informed us, from Abū ʿAbd al-Raḥmān al-Ṭāʾī, who said:
Usāmah came to Muʿāwiyah. Muʿāwiyah seated him beside himself, treated him kindly, and then stretched out his leg. Muʿāwiyah remarked, “May Allah have mercy on Umm Ayman! It is as though I can still see the shin of her leg in Mecca—like the shin of a mottled ostrich.”
Usāmah replied, “May Allah deal with you, Muʿāwiyah! By Allah, she is better than you!” Muʿāwiyah would then say, “O Allah, grant forgiveness.” ⦗2⦘
