Qatādah narrated, on the authority of Anas, who said:
“The two clans of the Anṣār boasted against one another. The Aws declared: ‘Among us is the one washed by the angels—Ḥanzalah ibn al-Rāhib; among us is he for whom the Throne shook—Saʿd; among us is the man whom the bees protected—ʿĀṣim ibn Abī al-Aqlah;(1) and among us is the one whose testimony was accepted as equal to that of two witnesses—Khuzaymah ibn Thābit.’(2)
Abū Maʿshar also related—from Muḥammad ibn ʿUmārah ibn Khuzaymah—who said: ‘My grandfather kept his weapons sheathed until ʿAmmār was killed; then he drew his sword and fought until he was slain.’(3)
