Narrated from him were: Ibn ‘Abbas, ‘Abd Allah ibn Mawhab, Anas ibn Malik, Kathir ibn Murrah, ‘Ata’ ibn Yazid al-Laythi, Zurara ibn Awfa, Shahr ibn Hawshab, and others.
Ibn Sa‘d said, “He remained in Medina until, after the assassination of ‘Uthman, he moved to Syria. (1)”
Al-Bukhari stated, “He is the brother of Abu Hind al-Dari. (2)”
Ibn Sa‘d also noted, “The delegation of the Daris numbered ten men, among them Tamim. (3)”
Ibn Jurayj related that ‘Ikrimah said:
When Tamim embraced Islam he pleaded, “O Messenger of Allah! Allah will certainly make your religion prevail over the entire earth; therefore grant me my village of Bayt Lahm (Bethlehem).” He replied, “It is yours,” and issued him a written deed.
Tamim then brought the document to ‘Umar, who said, “I testify to this,” and he ratified it. (4)
Al-Layth mentioned that the Prophet ﷺ told him, “You may not sell it.” Thus it has remained in the possession of his family to this very day. (5)
Al-Waqidi remarked, “The Prophet ﷺ had no land grant except Ḥabrā and Bayt ‘Aynun.”
