Harmalah related: Ibn Wahb told us, Ḥaywah informed us, al-Walīd ibn Abī al-Walīd reported, saying: Ayyūb ibn Khālid ibn Abī Ayyūb al-Anṣārī narrated to us from his father, from his grandfather, that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him:
“Keep the engagement secret. Then perform ablution, pray whatever Allah decrees for you, praise and glorify your Lord, and then say:
‘O Allah, You have power while I have none, and You know while I do not; You are the Knower of the unseen. If You know that So-and-so – name her – will be good for my religion, my worldly life, and my ultimate end, then decree her for me. But if something else is better for me than her, then bring that about for me – or he said: decree that for me.’” (2)
