ibn Rabīʿah, who said:
When the people began to speak against ʿUthmān, my father prayed during the night and made supplication, saying, “O Allah, protect me from the turmoil just as You have protected Your righteous servants.” He was not taken out, and dawn did not break, except that he was being carried out on his funeral bier. 68 – Abū al-Dardāʾ, ʿUwaymir ibn Zayd ibn Qays al-Anṣārī * (ʿ)
The imam, exemplar, judge of Damascus, and Companion of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ: Abū al-Dardāʾ, ʿUwaymir ibn Zayd ibn Qays.
It is also said: ʿUwaymir ibn ʿĀmir.
It is also said: the son of ʿAbd Allah.
Another view is that he was the son of Thaʿlabah ibn ʿAbd Allah al-Anṣārī, of the Khazraj.
He was the sage of this community and the chief of the Qurʾān reciters in Damascus.
Ibn Abī Ḥātim said: He is ʿUwaymir ibn Qays ibn Zayd ibn Qays (2) ibn Umayyah ibn ʿĀmir ibn ʿAdī ibn Kaʿb of the Khazraj. He also said: It is claimed that his name was ʿĀmir ibn Mālik.
He transmitted several hadith from the Prophet ﷺ.
