of the town. (1)
He subsequently traveled to Aleppo, where he narrated copiously from ʿAlāʾ al-Dīn Abū Saʿīd Sunqur ibn ʿAbd Allāh al-Armanī, later known as al-Ḥalabī. He said, “I journeyed to him, reported extensively from him, and—what an excellent shaykh he was! Upright in religion, full of honor, sound judgment, and marked by chastity. (2)” He also heard ḥadith from a number of the city’s other shaykhs. (3)
The sources further indicate that he received transmissions in many towns, among them: Homs (4), Hama (5), Tripoli (6), al-Karak (7), al-Maʿarra (8), Buṣrā (9), Nablus (10), Ramla (11), Jerusalem (12), and Tabūk (13).
