- Umm Ḥarām bint Milḥān ibn Khālid al-Anṣāriyyah (her traditions are found in al-Bukhārī, Muslim, Abū Dāwūd, al-Nasāʾī, and Ibn Mājah).
She is the daughter of Zayd ibn Ḥarām ibn Jundub ibn ʿĀmir ibn Ghanm ibn ʿAdī ibn al-Najjār—an Anṣārite from the sub-tribe of al-Najjār and a resident of Medina.
She was the sister of Umm Sulaym, the maternal aunt of Anas ibn Mālik, and the wife of ʿUbādah ibn al-Ṣāmit.
Her hadiths are recorded in all the major collections except the Jāmiʿ of Abū ʿĪsā; she was numbered among the distinguished women.
Those who narrated from her include Anas ibn Mālik and others.
Suhaymān ibn al-Mughīrah reported—from Thābit—from Anas—who said:
“The Messenger of Allah ﷺ once visited us when only my mother, my maternal aunt Umm Ḥarām, and I were present. He said, ‘Stand, that I may lead you in prayer,’ and he led us in prayer at a time other than the prescribed prayer time (1).”
Yaḥyā ibn Saʿīd al-Anṣārī reported—from Muḥammad ibn Yaḥyā ibn Ḥabbān—from Anas—who said:
“Umm Ḥarām bint Milḥān told me that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was lying in her house one day; he awoke smiling. I asked, ‘Messenger of Allah, what made you laugh?’ He replied, ‘A group from my community was shown to me, riding upon the surface of this sea like kings…’
