Muhammad ibn ʿUmar related to us; Ibn Abī Sabrah narrated to me, from ʿAmr ibn Yaḥyā, from his mother, from ʿAbd Allāh ibn Zayd, who said:
“I was wounded that day, and the blood simply would not stop. The Prophet ﷺ said, ‘Bind up your wound.’ My mother came over to me with strips of cloth tucked into her waistband and bandaged the cut while the Prophet ﷺ stood by. He then said, ‘Rise, my son, and strike the enemy,’ and he kept repeating, ‘Who can endure what you endure, O Umm ʿUmārah?!’
“The man who had struck my son advanced, whereupon the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, ‘Here is the one who struck your son.’ She said, ‘I confronted him and struck his leg, and he collapsed.’ I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ smile so broadly that his molars showed, and he said, ‘You have taken your retaliation, O Umm ʿUmārah.’ We then closed in on him, striking him with our weapons until we finished him off, and the Prophet ﷺ exclaimed, ‘Praise be to Allah who has granted you victory.’⦗1⦘
Muhammad ibn ʿUmar also related to us; Ibn Abī Sabrah narrated to me, from ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn Abī Ṣaʿṣaʿah, from al-Ḥārith ibn ʿAbd Allāh, who said:
“I heard ʿAbd Allāh ibn Zayd ibn ʿĀṣim say: ‘I was present at Uhud. When the people scattered from around the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, my mother and I drew near to him, protecting him. He said, “Son of Umm ʿUmārah?!” I replied, “Yes.” He said, “Throw!” So I hurled a stone at a man before him who was mounted on a horse. I struck the horse’s eye; it reared and threw itself and its rider to the ground. I then pelted him with stones while the Prophet ﷺ smiled.’
