32 – Asmāʾ bint Kaʿb al-Jawniyyah *
It is reported that she was Asmāʾ bint Kaʿb al-Jawniyyah. Ibn Isḥāq names her as such and says that the Prophet ﷺ did not consummate the marriage with her before divorcing her. Al-Zuhrī relates that he married a woman from Banū al-Jawn of Kindah, but she sought Allah’s protection from him, whereupon he said, “You have sought an inviolable protection; return to your family (1).” Others maintain that she was actually Asmāʾ bint al-Nuʿmān al-Ghifāriyyah.
Qatādah reported: “The Prophet ﷺ married, from the people of Yemen, Asmāʾ bint al-Nuʿmān al-Ghifāriyyah. When he entered upon her he called her, but she replied, ‘You come here.’ He therefore divorced her and married Umm Sharik (2).”
33 – Umm Sharik the Anṣāriyyah of the Najjār clan **
She was a woman from the Anṣār, of the Najjār clan.
