Another report comes from ʿIkrimah, through Ibn ʿAbbās: when the Prophet ﷺ sought her hand, she entrusted her affair to al-ʿAbbās, and he concluded the marriage for her (1).
Mālik narrates—through Rabīʿah, from Sulaymān ibn Yasār—that the Prophet ﷺ sent Abū Rāfiʿ together with a man from the Anṣār, and the two of them contracted his marriage to Maymūnah before he set out from Madinah (2).
ʿAbd al-Karīm al-Jazarī relates, from Maymūn ibn Mihrān: “I visited Ṣafiyyah bint Shaybah, an elderly lady, and asked her, ‘Did the Prophet ﷺ marry Maymūnah while he was in iḥrām (ritual consecration for pilgrimage)?’ She replied, ‘No, by Allah! He married her when both of them were in a state of permissibility, free of iḥrām.’” (3)
Ayyūb transmits from Yazīd ibn al-Aṣamm: “He proposed to her while he was in a state of permissibility, and he consummated the marriage with her while in the same state.” (4)
Jarīr ibn Ḥāzim reports: Abū Fazārah told us—from Yazīd ibn al-Aṣamm, from Abū Rāfiʿ—that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ married Maymūnah while not in iḥrām, and consummated the marriage with her, likewise not in iḥrām, at Sarif (5).

(2) Related by Malik in al-Muwattaʾ 1/348 (Book of Hajj) and by Ibn Saʿd in al-Tabaqat 8/133. Its isnad is sound, yet the report is mursal; the author will shortly cite it with a connected chain from another route.
(3) Reported by Ibn Saʿd, 8/133, through ʿAbd Allah ibn Jaʿfar al-Raqqi—ʿUbayd Allah ibn ʿAmr—ʿAbd al-Karim al-Jazari …; all the transmitters are reliable.
(4) Muslim records it in his Sahih (no. 1411) in the Book of Marriage, chapter: “The prohibition of the muhrim’s marriage and the dislike of his proposal.” It is also found in Ibn Majah (1964) and al-Bayhaqi 5/66, all on the authority of Yazid ibn al-Asam: “Maimuna bint al-Harith told me that the Messenger of Allah married her while he was not in ihram.” He added, “She was my aunt and the aunt of Ibn ʿAbbas.” Abu Dawud (1843) narrates it with the wording: “The Messenger of Allah married me while we were both outside ihram at Sarf.” Ahmad 6/333, 335; al-Tirmidhi (845); and al-Bayhaqi 5/66 transmit it with the wording: “He married her while not in ihram, consummated the marriage outside ihram, she died at Sarf, and we buried her in the pavilion where he had consummated the marriage with her.”
(5) Reported by Ibn Saʿd in al-Tabaqat 8/133 and by al-Hakim in al-Mustadrak 4/31—whose grading of the isnad as sound was endorsed by al-Dhahabi—through the chain of Jarir ibn Hazim, from Abu Fazarah, from Yazid ibn al-Asam, from Maimuna.
