She was buried in al-Baqiʿ.
Muhammad ibn Saʿd said: Muhammad ibn ʿUmar narrated to us, Ibn Abī Zinād narrated to us, from Hishām ibn ʿUrwah, from his father, from ʿĀʾisha, who said:
“When the Prophet ﷺ married Umm Salama, I became deeply upset because of what people had told us about her beauty. I looked for a gentle way to see her, and—by Allah—I found her many times more beautiful than what had been described to me. I mentioned this to Ḥafṣa— we were of one mind.
Ḥafṣa said, ‘No, by Allah, that is only jealousy. She is not as you claim, although she is indeed beautiful.’ I later saw her again, and she was exactly as Ḥafṣa had said, but I had been jealous.” (1)
Muslim al-Zanjī reported, from Mūsā ibn ʿUqba, from his mother, from Umm Kulthūm, who said:
“When the Prophet ﷺ married Umm Salama, he told her, ‘I have sent the Negus several ounces of musk and a mantle as a gift. I think he has died, and I do not expect the gift to be accepted; I anticipate it will be returned. If it is returned, it is yours.’
Things turned out just as he said: he gave each of his wives one ounce, and he gave the remainder together with the mantle to Umm Salama.” (2)
Al-Qaʿnabī narrated: ʿAbd Allāh ibn Jaʿfar al-Zuhrī told us, from Hishām ibn ʿUrwah, from his father:
“The Messenger of Allah ordered Umm Salama to perform the dawn prayer in Mecca on the Day of Sacrifice; it was her allotted day, and he wanted her to accompany him.” (3)
