This is a sound ḥadīth.
ʿUmar ibn Saʿīd ibn Abī Ḥusayn reported: Ibn Abī Mulaykah told us, and Abū ʿAmr Dhakwān—the freedman of ʿĀʾishah—narrated to me, saying:
A durj (casket) containing jewels arrived from Iraq for ʿUmar. He asked his companions, “Do you know how much this is worth?” They replied, “No.” Unsure how to divide it, he said, “Would you allow me to send it to ʿĀʾishah, because of the Messenger of Allah’s love for her?” They said, “Yes.” So he sent it to her. She remarked, “What new prosperity has come to the son of al-Khattāb after the Messenger of Allah? O Allah, do not keep me alive until the next year to receive his gift (1).”
This is a mursal report.
Al-Ḥākim also recorded it in his Mustadrak through the chain of Yaḥyā ibn Saʿīd (2) al-Umawī: Abū al-ʿAnbas (3) Saʿīd ibn Kathīr narrated to us, from his father, who said:
ʿĀʾishah told us that the Messenger of Allah—peace and blessings be upon him—once mentioned Fāṭimah. I spoke up, whereupon he said, “Are you not pleased to be my wife in this world and the Hereafter?” I replied, “Indeed, by Allah.” He said, “Then you are my wife in this world and the Hereafter (4).”
Ismāʿīl ibn Abī Khālid related: ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn al-Ḍaḥḥāk informed us that ʿAbd Allāh ibn Ṣafwān came to ʿĀʾishah, and she said:
“I have nine distinctive merits that no one else possesses—apart from what Allah granted to Mary, peace be upon her. By Allah, I do not say this out of pride over my fellow wives.”
