In the Musnad of Aḥmad, through the isnād of Muḥammad ibn Isḥāq: Yaḥyā ibn ʿAbbād ibn (1) ʿAbd Allāh ibn al-Zubayr narrated to us, from his father, from ʿĀʾishah, who said:
“We travelled with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and when we reached Turbān—a locality one courier-stage and a few miles from Madinah, a place with no water—and it was the last part of the night, a necklace slipped from my neck and fell. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ stayed back to look for it until dawn broke, while the people had no water with them. My father gave me what only Allah knows of rebuke and sighs, saying, ‘On every journey of the Muslims you bring them hardship and trial!’ Then Allah sent down the concession regarding tayammum (dry ablution), so the people performed tayammum and prayed.
She added, “When the divine concession reached the Muslims, my father used to say:
‘By Allah, my daughter, I did not know that you are truly blessed! How much blessing and ease Allah has placed for the Muslims because you detained them!’ ⦗2⦘
Abū Nuʿaym narrated: Yūnus ibn Abī Isḥāq told us, from al-ʿAyzar ⦗3⦘ ibn Ḥurayth, from al-Nuʿmān ibn Bashīr, who said:
Abū Bakr sought permission to enter upon the Prophet ﷺ and found ʿĀʾishah raising her voice over him. He said, “Daughter of so-and-so, are you raising your voice above the Messenger of Allah ﷺ?” The Prophet ﷺ intervened between him and her.
When Abū Bakr left, the Prophet ﷺ began to soothe her and said, “Did you not see that I placed myself between the man and you?”
Abū Bakr later sought permission again and heard them laughing together. He said, “Let me share in your peace just as you allowed me to share in your quarrel.”
This report was also recorded by Abū Dāwūd ⦗4⦘ and al-Nasāʾī through the route of Ḥajjāj ibn Muḥammad, from Yūnus.
