Hammād ibn Salamah—on the authority of ʿAlī ibn Zayd, from Anas—narrated that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to pass by the house of Fāṭimah for six consecutive months; whenever he went out to perform the dawn prayer he would say, “The prayer, O Household of Muhammad! ‘Allah only intends to remove from you impurity, O People of the Household, and to purify you completely.’” ⦗Al-Ahzāb (1):33⦘.
Yūnus ibn Abī Isḥāq and Manṣūr ibn Abī al-Aswad—this is the latter’s wording—reported: “I heard Abū Dāwūd say that he heard Abū al-Ḥamrāʾ say, ‘I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ come to the door of ʿAlī and Fāṭimah for six months, and he would recite, “Indeed, Allah intends …” the whole verse.’” ⦗Al-Ahzāb (2):33⦘.
Among the lines of poetry ascribed to Fāṭimah—though the attribution is not authentic—are the following:
What harm is there for one who inhales the soil of Ahmad
That he should never again, for all time, smell anything so rare?
Calamities have been poured upon me—had they been poured upon the very days,
Those bright days would have turned into night.
In the Musnad of Baqī she is the source of eighteen hadiths, one of which is agreed upon by both al-Bukhārī and Muslim. (3)
