Saʿīd ibn ʿUfayr said: “She died on Tuesday night, three nights into the month of Ramadan in the year 11 AH. She was twenty-seven years old, or thereabouts, and she was buried at night.”
Yazīd ibn Abī Ziyād narrated—through ʿAbd Allāh ibn al-Ḥārith—that “Fāṭimah lived for six months after the Prophet ﷺ, and during that period she pined away.”
Abū Jaʿfar al-Bāqir said: “She died three months after her father.”
Ibn Abī Mulaykah transmitted from ʿĀʾishah, who said: “Two months separated Fāṭimah from her father.” (1)
Abū Jaʿfar al-Bāqir also reported that she passed away at the age of twenty-eight.
She was born while Quraysh were rebuilding the Kaʿbah.
He added, “ʿAlī washed her.”
Al-Musabbiḥī stated that ʿAlī married her four and a half months after ʿĀʾishah’s wedding, at which time Fāṭimah was fifteen years, five and a half months old.
Qutaybah ibn Saʿīd told us: Muḥammad ibn Mūsā related—from ʿAwn ibn Muḥammad ibn ʿAlī—from his mother Umm Jaʿfar.
ʿUmārah ibn Muhājir likewise transmitted from Umm Jaʿfar that Fāṭimah said to Asmāʾ bint ʿUmays, “I find repugnant what is done with women: a cloth is merely thrown over the body, and it outlines her shape.” (2)
Asmāʾ replied, “O daughter of the Messenger of Allah, shall I not show you something I saw in Abyssinia?”
She then brought fresh palm branches, bent them into hoops, and draped a cloth over them.
