Her merits are countless.
She was one of the women who reached perfection: intelligent, dignified, devout, chaste, generous, and assured of Paradise. The Prophet ﷺ used to praise her, give her precedence over all the other Mothers of the Believers, and exalt her so highly that ʿĀʾishah said,
“I never felt jealous of any woman as I felt jealous of Khadījah, because of how frequently the Prophet ﷺ mentioned her.” (1)
Among the distinctions Allah granted her is that he ﷺ had not married any woman before her; several of his children were born to him through her; he never married another while she was alive, nor did he keep a concubine until she passed away. After her death he grieved deeply, for she had been an exemplary companion.
She supported him from her own wealth, and he ﷺ conducted trade on her behalf.
Allah ordered him to give her the glad tidings of a house in Paradise built of hollow pearls, wherein there is neither clamour nor toil. (2)
Al-Wāqidī said: Ibn Abī Ḥabībah narrated to us, from Dāwūd ibn al-Ḥuṣayn, from ʿIkrimah, from Ibn ʿAbbās; and Ibn Abī al-Zinād transmitted from Hishām; it is also reported from Jubayr ibn Muṭʿim that Khadījah’s uncle ʿAmr ibn Asad arranged her marriage to the Prophet ﷺ, for her father had died beforehand.
