Abu ʿUthman, from Salman, who said:
“They will come to Muhammad ﷺ and say:
‘O Prophet of Allah! You are the one through whom Allah opened (the way) and with whom He sealed; He has forgiven you your past and future sins, and you have arrived today in safety (1)(2). You can see the state we are in—so rise and intercede (3) with our Lord on our behalf.’
He will reply, ‘I am the one appointed for you.’
Then he will stand and gather the people together until he reaches the gate of Paradise. He will grasp a golden ring fixed to the door and knock.
Someone will ask, ‘Who is this?’
He will answer, ‘Muhammad.’
The gate will be opened for him, and he will advance until he stands before Allah. He will ask permission to prostrate, permission will be granted, and it will be proclaimed:
‘O Muhammad! Raise your head, ask and you shall be given, intercede and your intercession shall be accepted, supplicate and your supplication shall be answered.’
Allah will then inspire him with praises, gratitude, and glorifications the like of which He has never granted to any of His creatures. He will say, ‘My Lord, my community, my community!’
He will again request permission to prostrate.
Salman said: He will intercede for everyone whose heart contains a wheat-grain’s weight of faith (4)—or, he said, a barley-grain’s weight—or, he said, a mustard-seed’s weight of faith (5).
Abu ʿAwanah narrated—from ʿAsim, from Abu ʿUthman al-Nahdi, from Salman, who said:
‘The interval between Jesus and Muhammad ﷺ was six hundred years (6).’
Al-Waqidi said: Salman died at al-Madaʾin during the caliphate of ʿUthman. The same was stated by Ibn Zanjawayh.
Abu ʿUbayd (7), Shabab in one narration from him, and others said: He passed away in the year 36 AH.
