for your rendezvous is Paradise. (1)
It is said that none of the parents of the early Emigrants embraced Islam except the parents of ʿAmmār and of Abū Bakr.
Muslim ibn Ibrāhīm and al-Tabudhaki narrated, through al-Qāsim ibn al-Faḍl, who told us from ʿAmr ibn Murrah, from Sālim ibn Abī al-Jaʿd, who said:
“ʿUthmān invited a number of people, among them ʿAmmār, and declared: ‘Let me relate something about ʿAmmār. I and the Prophet ﷺ were walking through al-Baṭḥāʾ when we came upon ʿAmmār, his mother, and his father while they were being tortured. Yāsir said to the Prophet ﷺ, “Such is the course of time.” The Prophet ﷺ replied, “Be patient,” and then prayed, “O Allah, forgive the family of Yāsir,”—and You have indeed done so. (2)’”
This report is mursal.
Juʿtham ibn Sulaymān also transmitted it from al-Qāsim al-Hudānī, from ʿAmr ibn Murrah, but he reported it through Abū al-Bakhtarī instead of Sālim and from Salmān instead of ʿUthmān.
The report is found through another chain that is layyin (weak) and another that is gharīb (singular).
Abū Balj (3) likewise narrated—from ʿAmr ibn Maymūn—who said: “The polytheists tortured ʿAmmār with fire. The Prophet ﷺ would pass by, wipe his hand over ʿAmmār’s head, and say, ‘O fire, be coolness and safety for ʿAmmār just as you were for Abraham; the rebellious faction will kill you…’”
