Ibn Saʿd said: “Our practice is to keep silent about everything that lies beyond ʿAdnān back to Ismaʿil.”
Salamah al-Abrash transmitted from Ibn Isḥāq this same pedigree up to Yashjub; he then diverged, saying: “Yashjub son of Yanish son of Sārūgh son of Kaʿb son of al-ʿAwām son of Qaydhar son of Nabt son of Ismaʿil son of Ibrāhīm al-Khalīl—peace be upon him.”
Ibn Isḥāq also said: “They report that Ismaʿil lived one hundred and thirty years and was buried in al-Ḥijr alongside his mother Hājar.”
ʿAbd al-Malik ibn Hishām stated: “Khallād ibn Qurrah ibn Khālid al-Sadūsi related to me, from Shaybān ibn Zuhayr, from Qatādah, who said: Ibrāhīm, the Friend of Allah, was the son of Tāriḥ, son of Nāḥur, son of Ashraʿ, son of Arghu, son of Fāligh, son of ʿĀbir, son of Shāligh, son of Arfakhshadh, son of Sām, son of Nūḥ, son of Lāmak, son of Matushilakh, son of Khanūkh, son of Yarid, son of Mahlail, son of Qayin, son of Anush, son of Shīth, son of Adam.”
ʿAbd al-Munʿim ibn Idrīs narrated from his father, from Wahb ibn Munabbih, that he found in the Torah the genealogy of Ibrāhīm—peace be upon him—as follows: “Ibrāhīm son of Tāriḥ son of Nāḥur son of Sharūgh son of Arghu son of Fālig son of ʿĀbir son of Shāligh son of Arfakhshadh son of Sām son of Nūḥ son of Lāmak son of Mutashilakh son of Khanoch—who is Idrīs—son of Yārid son of Mahlail son of Qainān son of Anush son of Shīth son of Adam.”
Ibn Saʿd further said: “Hishām ibn al-Kalbī narrated to us, saying: My father taught me, while I was still a boy, the lineage of the Prophet—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—Muḥammad, the pure and blessed, son of ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿAbd al-Muṭṭalib (whose name was Shaybah al-Ḥamd), son of Hāshim (whose name was ʿAmr), son of ʿAbd Manāf (whose name was al-Mughīrah), son of Quṣayy (whose name was Zayd), son of Kilāb, son of Murrah, son of Kaʿb, son of Luʾayy, son of Ghālib, son of Fihr, son of Mālik, son of al-Naḍr, son of Kinānah, son of Khuzaymah, son of
