, then he moved on to the Syrian front and died a martyr during the plague of ʿAmwās, in the Jordan district, in 18 AH.
His brother:
24 – ʿAbd Allah ibn Suhayl ibn ʿAmr al-ʿĀmirī *
He set out with his father for Badr while concealing his faith. When the two forces met, he crossed over to the Muslims, fought alongside them, and was therefore counted among the men of Badr (may Allah be pleased with him). He took part in several other expeditions and engagements, and was martyred on the day of al-Yamāmah at the age of thirty-eight.
It has also been said that he was one of the earliest converts and that he emigrated to Abyssinia in the first migration (may Allah be pleased with him).
Al-Wāqidī reports:
When Abū Bakr led the people in pilgrimage the year before the Farewell Pilgrimage, Suhayl ibn ʿAmr (may Allah be pleased with him) met him and said, “I have heard, Abū Bakr, that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, ‘The martyr will intercede for seventy of his relatives.’ (1) I therefore hope that ʿAbd Allah will begin with me.”
