their arrival, so he rallied his Companions and set out in pursuit of the caravan. The caravan took the coastal road and they marched day and night, while Ṭalḥah and Saʿīd turned back to report. They reached Medina on the very day of the encounter and immediately departed, heading toward him.
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ allotted them their full share of spoils and reward.
Saʿīd was present at Uḥud, the Trench, al-Hudaybiyah, and the other campaigns (1).
Several hadiths have already been cited showing that he is among the people of Paradise and numbered among the martyrs.
ʿAbd Allāh ibn Aḥmad said, “I asked my father whether Abū Bakr and ʿUmar are to be testified as being in Paradise.” He replied, “Yes—refer to the hadith of Saʿīd ibn Zayd.”
Hishām ibn ʿUrwah, from his father, related that Arwā bint Uways claimed Saʿīd ibn Zayd had taken part of her land and brought her case before Marwān. Saʿīd said, “Would I take anything of her land after what I heard from the Messenger of Allah? I heard him say: ‘Whoever seizes a piece of land unjustly, Allah will collar him with it down to the seven earths.’”
Marwān said, “After this testimony I will not ask you for any further proof.”
Saʿīd then prayed, “O Allah, if she is lying, take away her sight and cause her to die on her land.” (2)
She did not die until she had gone blind; while she was walking on her property she fell into a pit and died.
Muslim recorded this (3).
