— Zāʾidah reported—from ʿĀṣim, from Zir—who said:
“Ibn Jurmuz asked leave to enter upon ʿAlī while I was present. ʿAlī said, ‘Give the slayer of the son of Ṣafiyyah the tidings of Hellfire, for I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, “Every prophet has a disciple, and my disciple is al-Zubayr.” (1)’”
Shaybān and Ḥammād ibn Salamah narrated the same.
Jarīr al-Ḍabbī transmitted—from Mughīrah, from Umm Mūsā—who said: “The killer of al-Zubayr sought permission to enter, and the same wording was recounted.”
Yazīd ibn Abī Ḥabīb related—from Marthad al-Yazanī—that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “My disciple among men is al-Zubayr, and among women it is ʿĀʾishah. (2)”
Ibn Abī ʿArūbah narrated—from Ayyūb, from Nāfiʿ, from Ibn ʿUmar—that he heard a man say, “O son of the disciple of the Messenger of Allah!” Ibn ʿUmar replied, “If you belong to the family of al-Zubayr, then yes; otherwise, do not say that. (3)”
