and several others. She was without peer in her time, and the scholars compiled for her a mashyakha—a register of her teachers—in ten parts. She was born in Ṣafar, in the year 554 AH. It is truly surprising that her father did not have her hear from Abū al-Fatḥ ibn al-Baṭṭī and his cohort! She was a righteous woman.
Those who narrated from her include: al-Muḥibb ʿAbd Allāh, Mūsā ibn Abī al-Fatḥ, Aḥmad ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿAbd al-Hādī, Shaykh ʿAbd al-Ṣamad the Qurʾān-reciter, Muḥammad ibn Abī Bakr al-Jaʿfarī, ʿAbd al-Raḥīm ibn al-Zajjāj, Muḥammad ibn ʿAbd al-Muḥsin the preacher, and others. Zaynab bint al-Kamāl alone received her blanket ijāza. She died in Ṣafar of the year 647 AH.
Among the works she heard were: the second section of the ḥadīth collection of Abū Aḥmad Ḥusaynuk from Yaḥyā ibn Thābit al-Baqqāl; Mukhtalif al-Ḥadīth by al-Shāfiʿī, through ʿAbd al-Ḥaqq al-Yūsufī; and al-Tārīkh al-Kabīr of al-Bukhārī, also via ʿAbd al-Ḥaqq.
In that same year there also died: the ruler of Egypt, al-Malik al-Ṣāliḥ Najm al-Dīn Ayyūb ibn al-Kāmil, who passed away while stationed at al-Manṣūra; al-Rashīd ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz ibn ʿAbd al-Wahhāb ibn Abī al-Ṭāhir ibn ʿAwf; al-Ṣafī ʿUmar ibn ʿAbd al-Wahhāb ibn al-Barādʿ; Abū Jaʿfar Muḥammad ibn ʿAbd al-Karīm ibn al-Sayyidī; the commander of commanders, Fakhr al-Dīn Yūsuf ibn Shaykh al-Shuyūkh al-Juwaynī; and al-Shams Yūsuf ibn Maḥmūd al-Sāwī.
