Ishaq ibn Abi Bakr reported to us; Ibn Khalil reported to us; Abu al-Fath Nasir ibn Muhammad al-Qattan, along with others, reported that Jaʿfar ibn ʿAbd al-Wahid al-Thaqafi informed them, saying:
“Abu Bakr Muhammad ibn ʿAbd Allah narrated to us in the year 438 AH; Sulayman al-Tabarani narrated to us; Ibrahim ibn Muhammad ibn Barrah in Sanaʿa narrated to us; ʿAbd al-Razzaq narrated to us; Sufyan al-Thawri, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid, from Abu Maʿmar, from Ibn Masʿud, who said:
‘The Prophet—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—entered the Kaʿbah on the day of the Conquest while three hundred and sixty idols stood around it. He began to prod them with a stick, reciting, “Truth has come and falsehood has vanished. Indeed, falsehood is ever bound to vanish” (17:81); whereupon the idols toppled face-down (1).’”
I read before Mahmud ibn Muhammad the Qur’an-reciter: Ibn Khalil reported to us; Masʿud ibn Abi Mansur reported to us; Abu ʿAli al-Haddad reported to us; Abu Nuʿaym narrated to us; Abu Bakr ibn Khallad narrated to us; al-Harith ibn Abi Usamah narrated to us; Yahya ibn Hashim narrated to us; Hisham ibn ʿUrwah, from Fatimah bint al-Munzir, from Asmaʾ, who said:
“We slaughtered a horse during the lifetime of the Messenger of Allah—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—and ate its meat.”
The wording is agreed upon (2), transmitted through Hisham ibn ʿUrwah.
