Siyar Aʿlām al-NubalāʾShams al‑Din al‑Dhahabi

ʿAbd al-Munʿim ibn al-Farāwī; al-Muʾayyad ibn Muḥammad ibn ʿAlī al-Ṭūsī; Zaynab daughter of Abū al-Qāsim al-Shaʿrīyah; al-Qāsim ibn Abī Saʿd al-Ṣaffār; Muḥammad ibn al-Ḥasan al-Ṣarrām; Abū al-Maʿālī ibn Nāṣir al-Anṣārī; Abū al-Najīb Ismāʿīl al-Qāriʾ; and a number of scholars in Nishapur.
He also learned from Abū al-Muẓaffar ibn al-Samʿānī in Marw, and from Abū Muḥammad ibn al-Ustād and others in Aleppo.
Furthermore, he transmitted from the two imams Fakhr al-Dīn ibn ʿAsākir and Muwaffaq al-Dīn ibn Qudāmah, and from several other scholars in Damascus, as well as from the ḥāfiẓ ʿAbd al-Qādir al-Ruhāwī in Harran.
Yes, in Damascus he also heard from the judge Abū al-Qāsim ʿAbd al-Ṣamad ibn Muḥammad ibn al-Ḥarastānī. Afterwards he taught for a lengthy period at the Ṣalāḥiyyah Madrasa in Jerusalem. When al-Muʿaẓẓam ordered the city wall to be demolished, he moved to Damascus, where he lectured for a time at the Rawāḥiyyah school when its founder first endowed it. Once the Dār al-Ashrafiyyah was built he became its leading shaykh, and later he was appointed to teach at the smaller Shāmiyyah Madrasa.
He devoted himself to teaching, issuing legal opinions, compiling, and authoring; many disciples graduated under him, and he was counted among the senior imams.
Among those who reported from him were: Imām Shams al-Dīn ibn Nūḥ al-Maqdisī, Imām Kamāl al-Dīn Salār, Imām Kamāl al-Dīn Isḥāq, and the judge Taqī al-Dīn ibn Razīn—each of whom studied law with him.
Others who narrated from him include the scholar Tāj al-Dīn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān; his brother, the preacher Sharaf al-Dīn; Majd al-Dīn ibn al-Muhtār; Fakhr al-Dīn ʿUmar al-Karajī; the judge Shihāb al-Dīn ibn al-Khuwayyī; the ḥadith scholar ʿAbd Allah ibn Yaḥyā al-Jazāʾirī; the mufti Jamāl al-Dīn Muḥammad ibn Aḥmad al-Sharīshī; the mufti Fakhr al-Dīn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Yūsuf al-Baʿlabaḳī; Nāṣir al-Dīn Muḥammad ibn ʿArabshāh; Muḥammad ibn Abī al-Dhikr; Shaykh Aḥmad ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān al-Shahrazūrī, the copyist; Kamāl al-Dīn Aḥmad ibn Abī al-Fatḥ al-Shaybānī; and Shihāb Muḥammad ibn Musharraf,
