Abū Bakr Aḥmad ibn Muḥammad al-Dashtī and others transmitted from him, and he lived thirty-eight years (1).
He passed away at the beginning of Shaʿbān in 643 AH, was laid to rest beside his forefathers, and he composed a brief work on the etiquette of audition (samāʿ).
Aḥmad ibn Muḥammad al-Muʿallim related to us; Aḥmad ibn ʿĪsā, the ḥāfiẓ, related to us; Muḥammad ibn Abī al-Maʿālī the Sufi and others related to us, saying:
Abū Bakr ibn al-Zāghūnī informed us; Abū al-Qāsim ibn al-Busrī informed us; Abū Ṭāhir al-Dhahabī narrated to us; al-Baghawī narrated to us; Abū Naṣr al-Tammār and al-ʿAishī narrated to us, and they said:
Ḥammād ibn Salamah narrated to us, from Thābit, from Anas, who said:
“The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, ‘Paradise is surrounded by hardships, and Hell is surrounded by passions.’”
This ḥadith is singular; Ḥammād alone preserved it.
Muslim also recorded it (2) through al-Qaʿnabī from him, and Ḥammād likewise transmits it from his maternal uncle Ḥumayd al-Ṭawīl, from Anas.
