Muḥammad ibn Hibat Allah ibn Muḥammad, a Hāshimī of ʿAbbāsid lineage from Baghdad, and the preacher of the Fakhr al-Dīn Ibn al-Muṭṭalib congregational mosque.
Born: at the beginning of the year 551 AH.
He heard ḥadith from Abū al-Fatḥ ibn al-Baṭṭī, Aḥmad ibn al-Muqarrab, Abū Zurʿa al-Maqdisī, Saʿd Allah ibn al-Dajjājī, and a number of others.
Those who narrated from him include Ibn al-Ḥulwāniyya, Ibn Balbān, Ibn al-Wāsiṭī, Abū Saʿīd Sunqur al-Qaḍāʾī, and several others.
By ijāza, his transmitters were Abū al-Maʿālī ibn al-Bālisī, Fāṭima bint al-Nāṣiḥ ibn ʿAyyāsh, Hadiyya bint Muʾmin, and others.
He also related two fascicles from Abū Muḥammad ibn al-Mādih Aḥmad (1), specifically the copy of Muḥammad ibn al-Sarī, as far as I have been informed, and with this the audition from Ibn al-Mādih was brought to a close.
Ibn Nuqṭa said, “The commendations about him were not favorable.”
I add: He lived on for some time after that appraisal, and it may be that his state improved.
He died on 2 Jumādā II 641 AH.
