ibn Yaʿqūb narrated to us; ʿAlī ibn Hāshim ibn al-Barīd narrated to us, from Muḥammad ibn ʿUbayd Allah ibn Abī Rāfiʿ, from his father, from his grandfather, from Abū Dharr who said:
“I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, say to ʿAlī: ‘You are the first who believed in me, you will be the first to shake my hand on the Day of Resurrection, you are al-ṣiddīq al-akbar (the greatest confirmer of truth), you are al-fārūq who separates truth from falsehood, you are the leader (yaʿsūb) of the believers, while wealth is the leader of the unbelievers.’”
Its chain of transmission is weak.
