“May a drenching, thunder-laden cloud
salute the homeland and give it drink—

O ʿAlwah! Whenever I recall your days
I can only lodge a grievance against all other days.”
An assailant then leapt upon him and ripped out his entrails in Shawwal, 632 AH, in Erbil; he was about fifty years old.
Among his verses are also:
“What wide, bewitching eyes

O man of Erbil, al-Huwayjiri has lost his heart to you.”
