Aḥmad ibn Ṣirmā al-Azajī, known as al-Mushtarī.
Born: presumably in 536 AH.
He heard from Abū al-Faḍl al-Urmawī the following works: the Book of al-Maṣāḥif, Ṣifat al-Munāfiq, al-Mahrawāniyyāt, the ninth part of al-Dāraqutnī’s Faḍāʾil al-Ṣaḥābah, the first part of his Ṣaḥīḥ, Juzʾ Ibn Shāhīn, and the third of al-Ḥarbiyyāt.
He also received transmission from Ibn al-Ṭalāya, ʿAbd al-Khāliq al-Yūsufī, Ibn Nāṣir, Saʿīd ibn al-Bannāʾ, Abū al-Waqt, and several others.
Narrators from him include al-Ḍiyāʾ, al-Dubaithī, Makkī ibn Bashar (1), al-Kamāl al-Fuwayrah, al-Jamāl Muḥammad ibn al-Dabbāb, al-Shihāb al-Abarqūhī, and others.
He died in Shaʿbān 621 AH.
Through his chain we heard the copy of Yaḥyā ibn Maʿīn, and ʿAbd al-Laṭīf ibn Būrindāz compiled for him a collection of forty ḥadiths, which al-Kamāl al-Fuwayrah heard from him.
