“my companion, Idrīs b. Sunayna al-Sāmarrī, author of al-Mustawʿib.”
He was one of the leading jurists: he wrote books and kept students busy. He had attended the lessons of Abū al-Fath Ibn al-Baṭṭī, yet nothing is recorded from him in transmission. He served for a time as judge of Sāmarrāʾ and then resigned.
He died in Rajab (1), 616 AH, at the age of eighty-one.
