and in 601 AH he granted a written authorization (ijāza) to Abū Muḥammad ibn Ḥawṭ Allāh.
216 – Ibn Khaṭīb al-Mawṣil, Aḥmad ibn ʿAbd Allāh al-Ṭūsī *
The shaykh and preacher, Abū Ṭāhir Aḥmad, son of the preacher of Mosul ʿAbd Allāh ibn Aḥmad ibn Muḥammad al-Ṭūsī—later called al-Mawṣilī—was a Shāfiʿī.
He was born in 517 AH.
He heard hadith from his grandfather Abū Naṣr the preacher, from Abū al-Barakāt ibn Khamīs, and, in Baghdad, from ʿAbd al-Khāliq al-Yūsufī and others.
He served for a time as the Friday preacher of Mosul and held the same post in Ḥimṣ for an extended period. After returning home, he, his father, his grandfather, his uncle ʿAbd al-Raḥmān, ʿAbd al-Raḥmān’s brother ʿAbd al-Wahhāb, and their brother ʿAbd al-Muḥsin all transmitted hadith.
Those who narrated from him include Ibn Khalīl and al-Taqī al-Yaldānī.
He granted written authorization to Ibn Abī al-Khayr and others.
He died in Jumādā al-Ākhirah of 601 AH; some, however, say that his death occurred in 602 AH. (1)
