The Thirty-Second Tier
212 – Ibn Kāmil, Yūsuf ibn al-Mubārak ibn Kāmil al-Baghdādī*
He was the shaykh and musnid, Abū al-Futūḥ Yūsuf, son of the ḥadith scholar Abū Bakr al-Mubārak ibn Kāmil ibn Abī Ghālib al-Baghdādī, the sandal-maker and Qur’an reciter.
His father arranged for him to audition ḥadiths from Abū Bakr al-Qāḍī (1), Abū Manṣūr al-Qazzāz (2), Ismāʿīl ibn al-Samarkandī, Yaḥyā ibn al-Ṭarrāḥ, and many others.
Among those who transmitted from him were Ibn al-Dubaythī, Ibn Khalīl, al-Ḍiyāʾ, Ibn al-Najjār, al-Yaldānī, al-Najīb, his brother al-ʿIzz ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz, and others.
He issued ijāzas to al-Zakī al-Mundhirī (3), al-Fakhr ʿAlī, and Shaykh Shams al-Dīn.
Ibn al-Najjār said: “He was illiterate and did not write, yet he was upright and a ḥāfiẓ (hadith master).”
