Abu ʿĀmir—or Abu Mālik al-Ashʿarī, and, by Allah, he has not lied to me—who said that he heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say:
“There will most certainly be people in my community who will regard as lawful illicit sexual intercourse, silk, wine, and musical instruments. Some people will camp beside a mountain pass; their livestock will return to them in the evening. Then a man will come to them with a request, and they will tell him: ‘Come back to us tomorrow.’ So Allah, Exalted is He, will destroy them during the night, bringing the mountain down upon them, and He will transform others into apes and swine.”
It was related by al-Bukhārī (1) from Hishām in suspended form, saying, “And Hishām said….”
Abū Dāwūd likewise recorded it through Bishr ibn Bakr al-Tinnīsī, from ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Yazīd ibn Jābir, with similar wording.

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ returned from the expedition of Tabūk, and when they drew near to Medina he said, “In Medina there are men who, whenever you crossed a valley or covered a stretch of road, were with you therein.”
They asked, “O Messenger of Allah, when they are in Medina?”
He replied, “Yes; excuses kept them back.” (2)
