and likewise ʿAmr—by which I mean Ibn Bahr (1)—together with the rest of those on the left-hand side (2).
Their opinions bring no benefit whatsoever, nothing but the delirium of idle chatter;

This is the creed with which I worship my Lord—exalted is He above any likeness or comparison;
Whatever contravenes it, in deceit, falsehood, or innovation, has never even crossed my mind.

Abu al-Ghana’im ibn ʿAllan recited to us in his book, on the authority of al-Qasim b. ʿAli b. al-Hasan al-Hafiz; my father informed us; Abu Saʿd ʿAbd al-Karim b. Muhammad in Damascus recited to us; Abu al-ʿIzz Muhammad b. ʿAli al-Busti in Mulqabadh (ح) recited to us.
Abu al-Husayn al-Yunini recited to us; Jaʿfar b. ʿAli the Qur’an-reciter recited to us; they said:
Al-Hafiz Abu Tahir Ahmad b. Muhammad recited to us for his own part:

Who abandoned innovation in order to follow the way;
When night descends they set it in writing,
And when morning breaks they hurry off to the sessions of listening. (3)
Abu al-Fath al-Qurashi recited to us; Yusuf al-Sawi recited to us; al-Salafi himself recited:
