He studied literature under Abū al-Muẓaffar al-Abīwardī. I personally heard him recite the work Sunan al-Tahdīth by Ṣāliḥ ibn Aḥmad al-Hamadhānī, as well as the Dhuhli fascicle.
I (the author) say: He died in Hamadhān, in Dhū al-Ḥijjah of the year 573 AH, at the age of eighty-nine years and some months.
By Allah’s help and His enabling grace, the twentieth volume of Siyar Aʿlām al-Nubalāʾ is now complete. It is followed by the twenty-first volume, which opens with the biography of Abū Ṭāhir al-Salafī.
قَرَأَ الأَدَبَ عَلَى أَبِي المُظَفَّرِ الأَبِيْوَرْدِيِّ، سَمِعْتُ مِنْ لَفْظِهِ كِتَابَ (سُنَنِ التَّحْدِيْثِ) لِصَالِحِ بنِ أَحْمَدَ الهَمَذَانِيِّ، وَ (جُزْءِ الذُّهْلِيِّ) .
قُلْتُ: تُوُفِّيَ بِهَمَذَانَ، فِي ذِي الحِجَّةِ، سَنَةَ ثَلاَثٍ وَسَبْعِيْنَ وَخَمْسِ مائَةٍ، وَلَهُ تِسْعٌ وَثَمَانُوْنَ سَنَةً وَأَشهُرٌ.
بِعَوْنِهِ -تَعَالَى- وَتَوْفِيقِهِ تَمَّ الجُزْءُ العِشْرُوْنَ مِنْ (سِيَرِ أَعْلاَمِ النُّبَلاَءِ) .
وَيَلِيْهُ الجُزْءُ الحَادِي وَالعِشْرُوْنَ، وَأَوَّلُهُ تَرْجَمَةُ أَبِي طَاهِرٍ السِّلَفِيِّ.
