He composed a book on the Qurʾānic readings and possessed an outstanding mastery of Arabic.
Among those who studied the readings with him were the vizier ʿAwn al-Dīn, ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz ibn Dulaf, the preacher Bahāʾ al-Dīn ibn al-Jummazī (1), and several others.
Those who narrated from him include Ibn al-Akhdar, ʿAbd al-Ghanī, ʿAbd al-Qādir al-Ruhāwī, Ibn Bāqā, Shaykh al-Muwaffaq, and others besides.

Al-Ḍiyāʾ said: It is reported that he was born in 490 AH.
He passed away in Shaʿbān of the year 572 (3) AH.
