Allah ibn ʿAli ibn ʿAbd Allah ibn ʿAbd al-Rahman al-Isfahani, al-Tāmidhī.
Tāmidh is a district of Isfahan.
He heard ḥadith from Abū Naṣr ʿAbd al-Rahman ibn Muḥammad al-Simsār and a number of others. Later he journeyed on, and in Basra listened to Jaʿfar ibn Muḥammad ibn al-Faḍl al-ʿAbbādānī, while in Baghdad he heard from Ṭirād ibn Muḥammad al-Zaynabī, Ibn Ṭalḥah al-Niʿālī, and several more.
He read hadith before the leading scholars, lived to a great age, and three fascicles were compiled from his narrations.
Those who transmitted from him include: Muḥammad ibn Makkī al-Ḥanbalī, ʿAbd al-Qādir ibn ʿAbd Allah al-Ruhāwī, Muḥammad ibn Abī Ghālib Shaʿrānah, Muḥammad ibn Maḥmūd al-Ruwaidashī, and others. By written authorisation, Karīmah al-Zubayriyyah also narrated from him.
Abū al-Fath al-Abīwardī erred when he read before al-Rashīd Ismāʿīl al-ʿIrāqī on the claim of holding an ijāzah from al-Tāmidhī, for that is impossible: al-Tāmidhī died on the twentieth of Shaʿbān in 563 AH, having reached an advanced age, and al-Rashīd had not yet been born.
In that same year there likewise passed away: Abū al-Maʿālī al-Bājisrāʾī ⦗1⦘, Abū al-Muẓaffar Aḥmad ibn Muḥammad ibn ʿAlī al-Kāghadhī ⦗2⦘, Abū Bakr Aḥmad ibn al-Muqarrib ⦗3⦘, the Chief Judge Jaʿfar ibn ʿAbd al-Wāḥid al-Thaqafī ⦗4⦘, Abū al-Manāqib Ḥaydara ibn ʿUmar al-Zaydī ⦗5⦘, and al-Khaḍir.
