60 – Ghanim ibn Khalid ibn ʿAbd al-Wāḥid ibn Aḥmad al-Isfahānī
The shaykh, Abū al-Qāsim, son of the shaykh Abū Ṭāhir al-Isfahānī, a merchant by profession.
He received from ʿAbd al-Razzāq ibn Shamih (1) the “Sunan of Mūsā ibn Ṭāriq” (2), missing only the fourth fascicle, and he alone possessed its elevated chain of transmission.
He also heard from al-Batarqānī (3), Abū Muslim ibn Mihrabzuda (4), ʿAbd Allāh ibn Muḥammad al-Karwī, and a group of others.
He was born in 452 AH in Isfahan.
Among those who narrated from him were al-Samʿānī, Ibn ʿAsākir (5), Aḥmad, the son of the ḥadith scholar Abū al-ʿAlāʾ, Muḥammad ibn ʿAbd Allāh al-Ruwaydashtī, his grandson Muḥammad ibn Abī Ṭāhir ibn Ghanim, and another grandson, Muḥammad ibn Abī Naṣr.
Al-Samʿānī (6) said: “He was upright, trustworthy, and prolific.” He died in Rajab, 538 AH (7).
I say: his father was one of al-Silafī’s teachers.
