Among those who transmitted from him were Abū Saʿd al-Samʿānī—who praised him—Abū Ṭāhir al-Silafī—who declared him trustworthy—along with Ibn ʿAsākir, his son al-Qāsim, the judge Ibn al-Ḥarastānī, and Abū al-Maḥāsin Ibn Abī Luqmah. I also possess a number of his upper-level isnāds.
59 – Ghānim ibn Aḥmad ibn al-Ḥasan ibn Muḥammad ibn ʿAlī al-Isfahānī
The long-lived, reliable shaykh, Abū al-Wafāʾ al-Isfahānī, known as al-Julūdī.
He was born in Rajab of the year 448 AH.
He studied Sahih al-Bukhari under Saʿīd ibn Abī Saʿīd al-ʿAyyār, and also heard hadith from Abū Naṣr Muḥammad ibn ʿAlī al-Kāghadī.
Those who narrated from him include Ibn ʿAsākir (1), al-Samʿānī, Dāwūd ibn Muʿammar, and others.
I myself recited Sahih al-Bukhari to Abū al-ʿAbbās al-Ḥajjār on behalf of my children, relying on the ijāzah he had received from Ibn Muʿammar. Among the transmitters from him was also Abū Mūsā al-Madīnī.
He died on the 3rd of Dhuʾl-Ḥijjah, 538 AH.
Muḥammad ibn Abī Naṣr al-Laftuwānī (2) spoke ill of him, saying, “He inclined toward the Ashʿarīs; consider the matter and you will see.”
