Siyar Aʿlām al-NubalāʾShams al‑Din al‑Dhahabi
  1. Abū al-Badr al-Karkhī, Ibrāhīm ibn Muḥammad ibn Manṣūr
The shaykh, jurist, scholar, and devout Muslim. He is Abū al-Badr Ibrāhīm ibn Muḥammad ibn Manṣūr ibn ʿUmar al-Baghdādī, al-Karkhī—the only person who heard the Amālī (dictations) of Ibn Samʿūn (1) from Khadīja al-Shāhjāniyya.
He also received transmission from Abū al-Ghanāʾim ibn al-Maʾmūn, Abū Bakr al-Khaṭīb, Abū Muḥammad ibn Hazar Mard, and Abū al-Ḥusayn ibn al-Naqqūr.
A written mashyakha (catalogue of his teachers) is extant for him.
He kept the company of Shaykh Abū Isḥāq (2) in the pursuit of jurisprudence.
He was born around 450 AH, as stated by Abū Saʿd (3). Abū Saʿd also noted that his family came from Karkh Jaddān (4), and that he lived in the house of Shaykh Abū Ḥāmid al-Isfarāʾīnī. He was a righteous, long-lived, and trustworthy scholar who eventually lost the ability to walk. He died on the twenty-ninth of Rabīʿ al-Awwal, 539 AH.
I say: Among those who narrated from him were Ibn ʿAsākir (5), al-Samʿānī, and Abū Aḥmad ibn
