ibn Shāh ibn Aḥmad ibn ʿAbd Allah al-Naysābūrī—better known as al-Shādhyākhī and, on account of his trade, al-Kharazī.
He owned a small shop and supported himself by selling beads.
He heard the Sahih from Abū Sahl al-Ḥafṣī, the Risala from Abū al-Qāsim al-Qushayrī, and he also received narrations from: Abū Ḥāmid al-Azhari, ʿAbd al-Ḥamīd ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān al-Baḥīrī, Ḥassān al-Manīʿī, Naṣr ibn ʿAlī al-Ḥākimī, Aḥmad ibn Muḥammad ibn Mukarram, Abū Ṣāliḥ the muezzin, and several others.
Al-Samʿānī transmitted from him (1) and said: “He was a man of virtue and piety; he was born in the year 453 AH.”
I add: Those who narrated from him include Ibn ʿAsākir (2), Ismāʿīl ibn ʿAlī al-Mughīthī, Manṣūr al-Farāwī, al-Muʾayyad al-Ṭūsī, and Zaynab al-Shaʿriyyah.
Ibn Nuqtah stated that Manṣūr, al-Muʾayyad, and al-Shaʿriyyah all heard the entire Sahih from him.
Al-Samʿānī further said that he passed away in Shawwāl of the year 535 AH.
Abū al-Faḍl Ibn ʿAsākir informed us, on the authority of Zaynab al-Shaʿriyyah, who reported from ʿAbd al-Wahhāb ibn Shāh, who reported from Abū al-Qāsim al-Qushayrī, who reported from Muḥammad ibn al-Ḥasan ibn Fūrak, who told us that Ibn Khurrāzādh told them, that al-Ḥasan ibn al-Ḥārith al-Ahwāzī told them, that Salamah ibn Saʿīd told them, that Ṣadaqah ibn Abī ʿImrān told them, that ʿAlqamah ibn Marthad narrated from Zādhān, from al-Barāʾ ibn ʿĀzib who said:
“I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, ‘Beautify the Qur’an—’
