The Twenty-Eighth Generation
296 – al-Abiwardī, al-Faḍl ibn Muḥammad ibn Aḥmad *

He also heard the Muʿjam of Abū al-Qāsim al-Baghawī from Abū Naṣr al-Isfarāyinī—travelling to Isfarāyīn for that purpose—and he received the Sunan of al-Dārquṭnī from al-Nawqānī, remaining its sole transmitter for a time.
Those who narrated from him include ʿUmar al-Farghulī, Ibrāhīm ibn Sahl al-Masjidī, Yūsuf ibn Shuʿayb, and others. Abū Saʿd ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿUmar al-Ṣaffār transmitted the Sunan of al-Dārquṭnī from him and alone enjoyed its elevated chain through him.
ʿAbd al-Ghāfir al-Fārisī said: “A discreet shaykh, abundant in worship, constantly engaged….”
