Abū Ṭāhir al-Sillafī narrated from him and related to me: “The vizier Ibn Abī al-Rayyān was counting on my accompanying him to Abū al-Ḥasan ibn al-Ḥammāmī, but the matter never materialised.”
I add: al-Samʿānī recorded his birth and said that he passed away in 504 AH.
His brother:
209 – Nūr al-Hudā Abū Ṭālib al-Ḥusayn ibn Muḥammad ibn ʿAlī al-Zaynabī *
The Imām, the judge, the head of the Ḥanafī school, the foremost scholar of the two Iraqs—Nūr al-Hudā Abū Ṭālib al-Ḥusayn ibn Muḥammad ibn ʿAlī ibn Ḥasan al-Zaynabī, the Ḥanafī.
Born: 420 AH.
He heard hadith from Abū Ṭālib ibn Ghailān, Abū al-Qāsim al-Azharī, al-Ḥasan ibn al-Muqtadar, and Abū al-Qāsim al-Tanūkhī.
He performed the pilgrimage and, while there, received the Ṣaḥīḥ from Karīmah al-Marwaziyya; he alone transmitted it from her, and people travelled to hear it from him.
Among those who narrated from him were ʿAbd al-Ghāfir al-Kāshgharī (1)—who had died long before him—his nephew ʿAlī ibn Ṭirād, Hibat Allah al-Ṣāʾin, and ʿAbd al-Munʿim ibn Kulayb. They heard from him the Ṣaḥīḥ of al-Bukhārī. He had also recited the Qur’an to Abū al-Ḥasan ibn al-Qazwīnī.
