The death of ʿAbd Allāh ibn Abī Bakr al-Ṣiddīq:
It is said that he accepted Islam early, yet no participation of his is recorded on any battlefield. He was wounded on the day of al-Ṭāʾif when Abū Mihjan al-Thaqafī shot him with an arrow. The injury continued to pain him until it appeared to heal, then it reopened and led to his death in Shawwāl of 11 AH. ʿUmar, Ṭalḥah, and his brother ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Abī Bakr descended into his grave. This was reported by Muḥammad ibn Jarīr and others.
It is also said that he was the one who, during the three nights in the cave, used to bring food and news of Quraysh.
Year 12 AH: The Battle of al-Yamāmah
At the beginning of that year—according to the most widely held view—the Battle of al-Yamāmah took place. The Muslim forces were under the command of Khālid ibn al-Walīd, while the standard-bearer of disbelief was Musaylimah the Liar, whom Allah destroyed. A great number of Companions were martyred.
